Just to share a bit of our story.
My name is Jacki and my life partner’s name is Mike. I was a nurse for 26 years until my retirement in 2022. Mike has a background in maintenance & installation of athletic equipment.
We’d love to share some things that are going on around here. One of my goals is to teach others the things that I know well, learn from my mistakes and have fun along the way. I also look forward to learning from you! I like to do a mixture of a lot of things, so you never know what might pop up from one day to the next! There are always pressing needs around here, but I am attempting to carve out some blocks of time in which to be creative. Being creative to me can mean cooking, painting and decorating a room, crafts, or planning growing spaces that will be pleasant to the eye.
We have a lot to be thankful for here. Such a beautiful landscape. Our animals are well-cared for and provide us love and entertainment. I am a vegetarian, as well as an animal lover, so there are no meat animals on our farm. I do cook meat as I have been doing for years for my family, but I have not eaten meat for over 20 years.
I try to learn things every single day. I am always searching for more knowledge, whether it be gardening, crafting, woodworking, organizing, cooking, or…just about anything!
One of my greatest passions has become beekeeping! I have a funny story about how that all started but, there is SO MUCH to learn about beekeeping! They are such a necessary species for mankind and they need to be well-cared for! As with anything else, everyone has their own opinions on how to care for them, so it can be quite time-consuming to research the best methods to keep them safe and healthy. We will definitely share with your our triumphs as well as our losses.
